A Family-Owned Construction Business Built on Skill, Care and Quality Workmanship
Sarley Hill Construction is a family-owned business built by Sarah and Ashley, with a name that reflects both their family and their roots. “Sarley” combines Sarah and Ashley’s names, while “Hill” is a nod to the family farm – a fitting foundation for a business that values hard work, practical skill and doing things properly.
This is not a volume-driven construction business looking to churn through jobs. Sarley Hill Construction is hands-on, personal and focused on delivering quality work that suits the project, the property and the people using it. Every job is approached with care, clear communication and a genuine interest in getting the result right.
With a young family of their own, Sarah and Ashley understand the value of spaces that are practical, durable and built to last. That same mindset carries through the business – build well, treat people properly and take pride in the finish.
Led by Trade Experience
Ashley is the director and lead tradesman, supported by a small trusted team that shares the same hands-on approach and commitment to quality. He is dual-trade qualified across carpentry and metal fabrication/welding, giving the business a rare combination of hands-on capability in both timber and steel. His experience covers structural steel, stainless steel, residential carpentry, custom fabrication and commercial construction work. He has also worked offshore as a pipe welder on gas pipelines, bringing a high level of technical skill and precision to the way he approaches fabrication and structural work. That background gives Sarley Hill Construction the ability to take on projects that need more than a standard answer. From custom pergolas, patios, sheds and carports to gates, fencing, decking, carpentry and structural steelwork, the business is well suited to jobs where quality, fit and function all matter.Custom Solutions, Built Properly
One of Sarley Hill Construction’s biggest strengths is the ability to work across both carpentry and steel fabrication. Many businesses specialise in one or the other. Sarley Hill Construction can bring both together, which opens up better options for projects that need strength, detail and flexibility.Where a kit-based option is the right fit, it can be used without overcomplicating the build. Where a standard solution will not suit the site, span or purpose, custom structures can be designed and built to meet the job properly. That includes projects with tight access, unusual spans, high-clearance requirements, wind loading, snow loading, engineered designs and other project-specific requirements. The aim is always to find the right solution for the job – not just the easiest one to sell.Sarley Hill Construction also works with builders, contractors and other trades where required, supporting larger projects with reliable carpentry, steelwork and fabrication capability.Experience Across Canberra and Beyond
Ashley’s trade experience can be seen in more places than most people realise. During his career, he has been involved in building many of Canberra’s newer suburb signs, including the weathered steel signs with cut-out lettering seen across the region. He has also worked on a large amount of the Centenary Trail signage, contributing to public-facing projects that required accuracy, durability and a strong finished result. His commercial experience also includes work for larger sites and contractors, including load-rated brackets for Westfield Christmas decorations. While this work was completed through previous roles rather than directly under Sarley Hill Construction, it reflects the kind of technical, high-responsibility work Ashley has been trusted to deliver. That breadth of experience gives Sarley Hill Construction a strong foundation across residential, rural and commercial projects.A Local Business That Cares About the Work
Sarley Hill Construction is built around quality, not quantity. The business is small enough to stay personal and hands-on, but experienced enough to take on complex and demanding work.Clients can expect honest communication, practical advice and a finished result that is built with care. Whether the project is a custom shed, a steel gate, a deck, a patio, a pergola, a carport or a more specialised build, the same standard applies – do the work properly, make it fit the purpose and leave the client with something that lasts. For Sarah and Ashley, Sarley Hill Construction is more than a business name. It is their family, their reputation and their commitment to building work they can stand behind.
